Dirk started out as a client at Stonecliff with aspirations of becoming a veterinary technician or veterinarian. Dirk asked to shadow us for a day, and the rest is history! We were thrilled at his aptitude for animal care, his interest in the field and the rapport he's been able to develop with the staff and patients.
Dirk grew up in Germany and moved to the US over 10 years ago. He now calls Vermont his home with his wife, 2 children, 3 cats and golden retriever. |

| Carla Fields - Receptionist
Carla worked as a Right of Way Agent and Electrical Construction Designer for NSTAR until retirement in June of 2002. She then moved to New Hampshire from Cape Cod and began working part time at SAC. Carla jokes that she has to get her "puppy time" in each day, and she is not just kidding. Her laugh is contagious and we can always find her if there is a litter of puppies in the building. She likes working in her retirement "helping all ages of animals, kittens and puppies to mature adults. This has been my dream job, I always told my friends that I would pat puppies for a living when I retired and that's just what I'm doing." Carla makes each patient feel at ease, and tries to act as a surrogate mother when they're in the hospital. When she is not at SAC she divides her time between a husband and Daisy (lab), Biskit (lab) and Diesel (lab). |

Martha is the "Miss Manners" of the dog world, and her classes are taught with patience and kindness. There are always a variety of classes going on right here at SAC, from puppy kindergarden up through all levels of obedience as well as agility and scent training. Classes are held in our spacious warehouse area, with lots of room for Martha's agility equipment. The floors are covered in rubber for both the handler as well as the students comfort.
